Impala Platinum Ltd – Social and Labour Plan:

Impala Platinum Ltd ("Impala"), as the mining right holder of the Impala Rustenburg Operation, near Rustenburg, note the provision as contained in Regulation 46A of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act 28 of 2002 (as amended on 27 March 2020), as well as the Broad-Based Socio-Economic Empowerment Charter for the Mining and Minerals Industry, 2018, as amended, (Mining Charter, 2018) to publish its approved Social and Labour Plan in English and a dominant language(s) commonly used within its mine community.

The Impala First Generation Social and Labour Plan for the period 2009 to 2011 ("Impala SLP 1") was approved on 12 December 2008 and the amendment thereto to extend the Impala SLP 1 period to 2013, together with its related commitments, was approved on 8 July 2018. Furthermore, Impala submitted amendments to its approved SLP 1, as part of a consolidated SLP Amendment application (in terms of Section 102 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act 28 of 2002, as amended (MPRDA)) in February 2024, which is being processed by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE). A redacted copy of the Impala SLP 1 (which excludes any confidential personal information) is available in English on this website. Once the amendments to the Impala SLP 1 are executed, a copies thereof will be made available on this website. Translated versions can be made available on request.

The Impala Second Generation Social and Labour Plan for the 5-year period 2014 to 2018 ("Impala SLP 2") was approved on 8 July 2021 and a redacted copy is available on this website in English and Setswana (which excludes any confidential personal information). Amendments thereto, including an extension of the implementation period for LED projects until 31 December 2021, have been approved on 30 August 2021. Furthermore, Impala submitted amendments to its approved SLP 2, as part of a consolidated SLP Amendment application (in terms of Section 102 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act 28 of 2002, as amended (MPRDA)) in February 2024, which is being processed by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE). Once the executed versions of the approved amendments have been received, copies will be made available on this website, as well as a translated version thereof into Setswana.

The Impala Third Generation Social and Labour Plan for the 5-year period 2019 to 2023 ("Impala SLP 3") was approved on 27 May 2022, and a redacted copy is available on this website in English and Setswana (which excludes any confidential personal information). An amendment thereto, for the extension of the implementation period for LED projects until 31 December 2024, has been accepted by the Regional Manager: DMRE North West in February 2023. Furthermore, Impala submitted amendments to its approved SLP 3, as part of a consolidated SLP Amendment application (in terms of Section 102 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act 28 of 2002, as amended (MPRDA)) in February 2024, which is being processed by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE). Once the executed version of the approved amendment has been received, copies will be made available on this website, as well as a translated version thereof into Setswana.

Impala submitted its Fourth Generation Social and Labour Plan for the 5-year period 2024 to 2028 ("Impala SLP 4") in October 2023, which is still being reviewed by the DMRE for approval.

The Afplats Second Generation Social and Labour Plan for the period 2013 to 2018 ("Afplats SLP 2") was submitted to the DMRE on 12 April 2013. An application for the amendment of the Afplats SLP 2 was submitted to the DMRE on 25 November 2019. The Afplats SLP 2 and the amendment thereto are still being reviewed by the DMRE towards approval.

The Afplats Third Generation Social and Labour Plan for the period 2018 to 2023 ("Afplats SLP 3"), as revised, is still being reviewed by the DMRE towards approval.

Afplats submitted its Fourth Generation Social and Labour Plan for the 5-year period 2023 to 2028 ("Afplats SLP 4") in September 2022, which is still being reviewed by the DMRE for approval.
